We haven’t paid much attention to New Rochelle yet because the Huguenots are playing a smartly-crafted schedule that is going to help a young team in the long run. There was plenty of practice time built in early on with games against opponents that weren’t likely to dent the collective psyche.
Here is the first real test.
Mount Pleasant has won four in a row against so-so competition, but is quickly improving. The Ice Cats need a win in a game like this in order to keep the momentum rolling forward.
Also, keep an eye on Scarsdale against Iona Prep. The holiday break can be a legitimate speed bump, so it will be interesting to see how the Raiders come out and play a team that is coming together. Scarsdale also hosts North Rockland this week and plays Sleepy & Co. before a showdown next week against Mamaroneck.
I’m working on Super Bowl assignments today, so please keep the score updates coming if you’re out watching. Tweet me @LohudHockey and I’ll pass them along.
