We’re in a bit of a holiday holding pattern.
Iona Prep is the only local team in action today, and I believe the Gaels might’ve gotten a needed spark from the last meeting with St. Anthony, which ended in a 3-3 tie. Since there’s not much else to discuss, I’ll share with you some of the emails I’ve gotten from people who have attended some of the Iona Prep games this year … kidding.
Let’s just say a few impartial spectators are concerned about some the behavior they are seeing.
Parental support is good. Parental meddling is bad. The Gaels have gone through a contingent of coaches since Tim Turnbull decided he couldn’t take any more. To be fair, Tim Collins, Mike Bonelli and Lem Randall left for a variety of reasons. Charles Berger was brought in before the season and was a good hire by Iona Prep.
So here’s a New Year’s resolution for the more opinionated folks in the stands … repeat after me.
“I promise to give the coaches and players time and space to develop a winning program. I will lend my support vocally in a positive manner from the stands while exercising the Catholic values and virtues espoused the faculty and staff at Iona Prep. I promise not to discredit the coaches or my son’s teammates on the ride home from practices or games.”
Good luck to the Gaels.
