It’s going to be an interesting week.
There used to be a couple of marquee games each season, but we’ve seen a lot of programs improve over the years and Section 1 is now in a good place. We are going to see a couple of high-intensity battles each week that will affect the power rankings. I’ll do more on this later, but the days of having to spend five hours on a charter bus in search of strong competition are over. There are plenty of quality teams right here in Westchester, Rockland and Putnam.
I’m not saying teams should avoid spending money on road trips because those hours together along with the chance to experience a different style of play are going to pay benefits. The point is, there is no harm in playing the right local schedule.
Anyway, here’s what my week looks like:
Tuesday – Scarsdale vs. Pelham
Thursday – Mamaroneck vs. White Plains
Friday – Pelham vs. Suffern
Saturday – Rye vs. North Rockland
Sunday – John Jay vs. Greeley
