I wonder the same thing. I don’t know why this allowed. You have teams that are able to recruit playing against those that can’t. Section 6 includes the privates for league play, but they have a separate playoff and state championship. It works great. Section 2,3,5 have privates that are allowed to play in section playoffs and states. I saw someone comment in another blog that they do this so they have teams to play against. That is nonsense because they could have the same schedule, actually they would be able to play more games. 24 or 26 regular season games for Joe’s and the other privates in section 6. Then they could go to the states for the private schools.

Congratulations to John Jay on a superb season. It shows how difficult it is to win in Utica. Suffern Pelham Mamaroneck have had some near misses, everything has to fall the right way to bring it home. CBA is a legal team in Section 3 and has been for years. Just like Kennedy and Albertus Magnus in Section 1. I was surprised by today as I felt this would be John Jays easiest opponent since their win over Pearl River. CBA was quite unspectacular during the regular season in a down year for division 2 teams in section 3. CBA finished 5th in league play and had a tie with a very mediocre Ithaca team as well as two losses to an average New Hartford team. For Section 1 it was nice to the stronger team in Utica. Normally Suffern or other section 1 representatives are facing buzz saw teams. John Jay will be forever remembered for that amazing comeback yesterday and they will contend in section 1 next season I am certain

Does not matter what kind of regular season you have. CBA/JD obviously caught fire at the right time. New Rochelle basketball was like 11-9 this year. They beat Mt. Vernon for the section and just beat Kingston for the regional championship. All the pieces coming together at the right time.
Remember last years Los Angeles Kings? An 8 seed trouncing everyone in their path for the stanley cup.
BTW, Saratoga is winning 3-0 midway through the second.

JJ, you represented section one well just like other section one teams before you. You represented the bia house league for the first time in the regionals and states. Your team got production from several players along the way. You were too strong a force to be reckoned with for most opponents. It is natural you would finally meet a team capable of taking down your team in the state finals. They too had to be playing well at this time of year and they must have today.
For the section, jj represents growth in the level of competition within it. Maybe a few other teams are also ready for their first section 1 title. But hockey in our area is surging in the right direction and JJ was our shining example this year. I hope it can continue in years to come.
Nice infusion of talent into Toga this yr. Pick up two strong players in the Flynn brothers, who played juniors and did not play for the school previously. Also, the goalie Smith transferred from CBA. Helps plug the holes that graduation created…..
Must be even cheaper to rent an apartment in Saratoga than it is in Suffern.
