Very surprised to see Trey win for conference 2. If i had to guess who would win it i would choose between Cullen, Ramondelli, Mcgee , or Nicholas.
Congrats to the award winners. Well done!
Proving once again that Ned Bigby has issues…
Here is a list of players who scored more than 20 points this past season and were not recognized with either all-conference or honorable mention. (Sorry if you scored exactly 20 points, I had to draw the line somewhere)
I understand teams are allotted a certain number of all-league spots based on how they finish in the league. Just sure how the honorable mention thing works.
Seems like Morris and J Ramondelli put up an awful lot of assists to be left off even the HM list. Have to think they had just a little bit to do with THF and C Ramo putting up big goal numbers.
Aronson also left off?...
This might be where certain other factors are considered…hmmmmm…
Stats were copy/pasted from http://www.section1hockey.com/stats.html
Hope this reads okay when I hit “submit”

If the All league teams actually played against each other… I would go with League 2. Probably could use a goalie though.
Just some opinions. You cannot go by scoring statistics, The BIA teams play a much softer schedule than Mamaroneck or Rye so of course the Mamaroneck Rye Pelham and Suffern players are not going to have as many points. If you went by the best players, after Suffern start in Mamaronecks league, with Pelham Scarsdale White Plains and New Ro. Thats far and away the toughest league and has a lot of the best kids in the section. If Mamaroneck played in either of the Brewster divisions they would have gone undefeated, and THF and his crew would have double the points they had this year. No question.
Good pt ned
@ned…Wasn’t John Jay in the lower division and beat Rye? There are players in the lower division just as talented as those in the higher division.. I’m not saying all, but a lot of these kids play and against each other at the Junior Level. Also, Hen Hud, lower division, tied New Rochelle in a non league game in December. I agree and disagree with you. However, you must admit the way they format of this selection criteria should be reconsidered. I played played one year of local High School Hockey in 1982 (went on to play at a prep school and division 1) My high school team also sucked! Anyway, the voting process was much simpler and the teams played each other from all divisions. Then when the awards came in wasn’t as complicated. Congrats to all the selected players.
I have no issue at all with any of the players who were selected and recognized.
and it has nothing to do with who plays in what league.
but of the hundreds of players in the section…. only 7 scored more than 20 points and were not recognized at all…. 3 of those players play in the “toughest” league in the section and still put up the points. Morris and Ramondelli put up impressive assist totals….another kid tried to go with a broken back…one was a team captain and scoring leader…
If there is no room on the honorable mention list…okay…seems unfair….just saying.
I don’t have an issue either. Yet, you got to feel for a kid who is talented, has the stats and especially a leader in one or all three catagories. Think how the kid feels? I’m sure his self esteem is a bit broken. It’s human nature.
Also, agree what division you play in scoring stats has nothing to do with what @ned claims. The reason they are at a higher level is because they go to a larger school. Settle in on the ice. Division 1 section top players should play division 2 in a game. Then you can make your statement. Yet@ned still has not answered my questions about the Rye vs John Jay championship game. As a former player, I don’t know if you realize what it is like to be gased and in better condition. Rye lost it in the 3rd period. They just couldn’t finish check, miss the nets, and legs stop moving. Section 2 wins.
It should never go by points, especially in new ro case, they give 2 assists for every goal no matter if your on the ice or not. That’s tradition. Coaches shouldn’t be allowed to vote for their own players
New Ro’s assist to goal average 1.37.Mamo’s average 1.43! Next!!!
Why would a coach pump up assist totals and then NOT nominate a player for honorable Mention?
