How did they decide who wins these awards?
Conference 2. Pretty good team…..........with no goalie.
@Hhf – Coaches
Congrats to all. I go to Hen Hun. I am bit surprised that Robbie Albano, Hen Hud, was not even considered for Honorable Mention. He was 10th in the league in goals and third on his team in scoring. The Junior D was rock solid at his position, particularly since it was his first season playing the position. Come on coaches? There were other players overlooked, but the players who were selected…great achievement.
Brewster teams obviously all vote together and never get to see other kids play because they only play each other its unfair, as is the seeding process
For real? That’s really sad. I feel bad for those kids, like Albano, who where overlooked. Anyway, I know nothing about how players are selected anyway.
Each team gets a certain number of All-League choices based on where they finish in the standings. They all get the same number of honorable mentions. The coaches choose who from their own team gets the awards. If a team wants to trade or give away a choice to another team, they are abe to, as long as the total number of choices for that particular league remains the same.
For all-section that is a collaborative argument between all 29 coaches as to who makes it. A player must be all-league to be considered for all-section.
Also, a player must be all-section in their own section to be considered for all-state, so only the 17 named all-section have a shot at that.
Thanks for the explanation and I understand. My son plays Lax for Hen Hud. Is the selection criteria the same for all sports in Westchester? It’s too bad that a particular player who is very talented, top 10 in goals in the league in goals, third on his team scoring, and solid at his position, can possibly be overlooked. Two kids on Hen Hud who were selected are good hockey players and I imagine selected because they where Seniors and I agree talented too. I don’t know much about hockey, but have been to enough HH games to see these kids play and just feel a kid was short changed, particulary if his coach has seen him play. Anyway, I appreciate you explaining this all to me. Please understand, I’m not insulting the other HM talent. I congratue them all and wish them the best as they move on to college. Good season Hen Hud, you had a great year, being that you have been in the sections for on two years. Looking forward to next season.
I do not believe the BIA teams vote together as a block, many of the teams are rivals with each other and would not give their vote away like what is being implied. Although many teams play out of BIA, there is no bond because they play out of the same rink.
Wish what you said was true. Its always been like that. Also since the BIA teams never leave BIA or play anyone else they do not see other players in the section. Its a farce
I know Robbie Albano. Last year Hen Hun sucked! The team did a complete 360 this year. He was a major factor in the turn around. I’m sure his teamated would agree. I think? Please explain to me how he could be left off with his stats, ice time, and plus minus? BTW… Rose is listed as D, but he played F, Dalton is listed as F, but he played D, Garret should have been a All Conference Player. When his coaches got smart and moved him up to forward Hen Hud went on a 9 game when streak. He was solid all year. Ledwin, I like him a lot, but he missed a bunch of games, turned it on and off when he played. Anyway, I love all you guys and will miss you next. Robbie, hang your head high next year will be your time. They should put you up at F. You have an eye for the net and a hell of a wrist shot. Great Season Sailors. HH coaches congrats too on a job well done with the whole team. The OT victory against Pawling was awesome!
Looks like a lot of coaches selected serniors as a goodbye present.
@ nuts. Corrects undo.
@nuts. Correct.
@Cliff Clavin
According to NY State Hockey website you could be an all league player to be considered for all state
Player must be All-Section/League, 1st Team, or POTY.
(Please list All-Star Teams, Scoring Stats, Special Awards, any other relevant information that you feel should be considered by the selection committee)
@cliffclavin disregard last comment..read it wrong …they must mean you need to be both all league and all section
