Why do we have to put a Pelham Rye Final in Brewster!! my god makes no sense
Take it easy Lou, you are counting your chickens a little quick, there is much work to be done before the finals. It would be nice to see John Jay win on their home ice
pELHAM HAs to get by Scarsdale first… not an easy task. Then past John Jay…. Pelham is going to have to win 2 tough games before they even can think about the sectional championships.
@lou…. are you kidding me? The Brewster set up was made long ago… just now you are complaining?
Does anyone know if we are going back to West Point next year? I hope so.
So lou u r discounting JJ Scarsdale and greely’s chances to emerge victorious. Wow thats a BIG ASSumption
Anything can happen as it did during the season: Adrenalin running wild, hot OR cold goalies—-games will be “war-like”.
Is quite used to and comfortable playing “tough” teams
Great bracket. No easy route to the title. Is any other Section this deep in DII? Section 6, maybe.
Jay could get a tough rivalry game in first game agaisnt York(Not saying PR doesn’t beat York) just saying.Still better than getting Scars or Pel
What happened to Pelham vs paneling a few years ago. Those upstate trips meant squat.
*pawling. Damn autocorrect
Boy was that a big win for Rye the other night and certainly gives them a much easier road to the section final then Pelham!
That said; I see Pelham over Scarsdale 5-1 or 6-2 then Pelham over JJ 4-1
Rye over Greeley 4-2 then Pelham over Rye 4-2 with an empty netter.
Pelham gets to State final again before hitting the wall!
If Pelham should get upset early ( JJ has best chance) and either Rye or JJ win the section, I don’t see either team making it past the quaters or semi’s. Pelham has the size, expieience and depth that neither Rye or JJ has to compete with the best upstate.
Anyone know JJ’s biggest win of the season?
Prob their best win was over a strong Ogdensburg team up in Thousand Islands. Also convincingly beat Scarsdale and lost a very tight 3-2 game to Rye(not inc empty netters)
Pelham will have the toughest time with JJ, but I think their expierience will will shine through. Don’t take them lightly though or look ahead to Rye; they could get picked off if they do!
Yeah “tough” games. Besides Rye, Pelham will be the first team of any substance that John Jay is going to play. It’ll be like a hot knife through butter. I do you think JJ would compete with McQuaid Jesuit or Rome Free Academy.
Pelham lost to Rye because they slept through the first two periods before waking up. Its almost a blessing in disguised for the Pelicans because now when Pelham does make it to BIA (tragedy we get that sh*thole) they will come out focused against Rye. And no I am not counting my chickens too quick because John Jay sucks and aren’t willing to put their money where their mouth is and schedule games against Suffern, Mamaroneck, Rome Free Academy, Massena, McQuaid, Niagara Wheatfield, and Williamsville east.
JJ Joke you seem obsessed with JJ
Um a “few” years ago? Its at least 7 or 8. and I could care less what Pelham does but aside from Suffern which team has had as much success in this section as Pelham?
@fotg. Like you said, maybe section 6. Section 5 is pretty deep this year too. Prob the three strongest sections for D2 this year.
“JJ Joke”: A real class act for the Pelham fan base.
JJ impressed me when I saw them play Rye and really impressed me when they went upstate and won 2 games against QUALITY opponants there JJ JOKE! (Emphasis on Joke!)
They are a tough and worthy challange for Pelham and unlike you I have faith the Pelican coaches will not take them lightly!
By the way JJ Rye has been to at least TWICE as many final 4’s as Pelham maybe more since the beginning of State play and at least half of them have been as a Division one team! This, of course, is taking nothing away from the great Pelham program.
JJ Joke
C’mon with the schedule nonsense, you make it sound like the only thing a team has to do to get Pelham and Rye and Suffern and Willy East and N-W on the schedule is pick up the phone and say please. It doesn’t work that way. Teams in NY state only get to play 20 games. And you’ve got a boatload of league commitments. Be fair.
Playoffs here we go, first upset will be in 2nd round when Pearl River beats JJ (I know what is he smoking?) look Pearl River is a up and coming team playing their best hockey now. JJ being a favorite might hurt them mentally?? Pelham will come out of the upper bracket and face Rye who will have their hands full with Greely (maybe 1 or 2 ot’s). I do not know if Rye can beat Pelham twice but the game the other night you could tell Cullen was not 100% either sick or nursing an injury if he cannot go at full strength then Rye wins if Cullen is Cullen I do not think Rye can win twice?? Time will tell good luck to all!
Let’s not forget rye beat Pelham without Benincasa. With any luck we’ll see him in the section final
(As long as rye makes it pas Greeley)
Very Doubtful Benicasa will be back at all this year. If he were my Kid as coach or parent I would not let him play with that injury!
Rye has won more sectional titles but Pelham has like 20 appearances both are great programs
Rye and Pelham YES THEY ARE!
