Unless there’s a freak storm in the next few hours, we’re going to get 99.8 percent of the games in.
And that’s a major accomplishment given the issues finding ice time and the problems created by last week’s blizzard. Maybe a little stick noise for the coaches and rinks is due.
I’m not seeing a lot of upset potential today, so there won’t likely be a lot of bracket scrambling.
The seeding meeting is tomorrow at BOCES, and for those who don’t know about the process, a mathematical formula is used to determine rankings, and it clearly doesn’t take into account important variables like strength of schedule. Committee members double check the numbers and work out logistical issues. Every sport in Section 1 uses the same process because we live in a litigious society, the likelihood of a lawsuit if the seedings were subjective is fairly high.
I’ll have the matchups posted here as soon as they become available.
Leave a score if you’re heading out to watch any of today’s games. I’m off today, but will be getting things set up for a busy stretch. We’re going to do a live playoff chat tomorrow at 8 p.m. and I’ll have a playoff preview package in The Journal News and on LoHud.com bright and early Saturday morning.
