I’m not sure Rye is getting enough credit for piling up the wins despite not having any home ice.
The loss of Playland has increased the commuting time and cut down on practice time, and still the Garnets are 12-3-1 heading into tonight’s showdown with Scarsdale. Certainly, talent is a huge factor in this equation, but it always helps to be in familiar surroundings with a lot of classmates on the other side of the glass.
RyeTown/Harrison, which has also been affected by the storm damage, is on the ice at Ebersole later on tonight.
I’ll be at the Ice Hutch, covering Rye and Scarsdale. You can follow along @LoHudHockey, as usual. And don’t forget tomorrow we’ll be having a live chat here at 9:15 p.m.

Congrats to all the Rye seniors on senior nite. Let’s hope the Garnet faithful make the trip to the Hutch and cheer you on.
Scarsdale 3 Rye 2 OT
Both goalies stand on their heads. But in the end Nicholas is too much to handle.
Does Rye have all their players back yet? Especially their best player and leading scorer?
PAC is just struggling to get through this season at this point. Alot of pre season talk has now been completely quieted.
Two big D2 games tonight.
J.J. clinches the 1 seed with a Rye loss.
Rye is the only team that can wrestle the top seed from the Indians. Rye needs to win out and needs J.J. to lose both their remaining contests. A long shot i know.
scarsdale was really that close with brewster????
@MHS
Just imagine if they lose out
Scarsdale hasn’t even the same lately
Rye missing Bennicassa
Benincasa is not and will not be back anytime soon.
what is Benincasa’s injury?
Scarsdale is tired, they are playing a lot of games in a short amount of time. Their schedule is too end heavy, not much rest in between.
Scarsdale seemed to approach the game with a lax attitude. They did just enough to win and nothing more.
benicasa done for year…that drops the garnets out of contention
Hen hud beat fox lane 6-3 in the scrimmage. Hen hud it HOT right now. I would like to see an upset against John jay. I can’t wait to watch it!
@pw that statement could not be more false
pelham and rye will eliminate eachother and jj will basically have one tough game to win the title
Rye 6 scarsdale 5
@pw eliminate eachother?
How is that even possible?
they will be the two and three seeds and barring upset will play eachother in semis, while jay is on the other side of bracket with greeley as the second best team who they absolutely obliterated
Rye/Scarsdale good game. Congrats to Rye’s seniors on Senior Night.
Scarsdale has some real good skaters but I’ve got to give special note to Nicholas who showed how much of a special skater he is—was scary for Rye every time he had room to skate!
how will they eliminate each other? 1 team wins, 1 team loses. 1 team advances, 1 team eliminated.
Greeley score?
Scarsdale was without both Burns as well as Schell… would have made a difference, even if Bennacasa was in the lineup.
I think scarsdale could have even won
LoHudHockey We might still get Rye-Pelham next week. “Both teams are taking a chance but the kids want to play it.” – Jason Friesen.

looking at the stats on the section 1 website you were outshot by Carmel 33 – 26 lets not get ahead of yourselves
Pw- take a look at Cliff ’s website and the standings section. Jay is a likely 1 seed. After tonite, Scarsdale a likely 5 seed. The Raiders don’t have enuf seeding eligible games (CT game and Fieldstone game won’t count) to move up to the 3rd seed. If Greeey wins tonite, they are in pretty good shape to hold onto a 2 or 3 seed, as they have just one game left. Rye holds the 2 if they win out over RTH and BH. Pel doesn’t ‘t have many bonus points in their final 3 games. Realistically, the only way Pel moves up to a 3 is if they win out, including a rescheduled Rye game. So, rescheduling a Rye/Pel game has potential seeding consequences. If the game is not played, Rye and Pel much more likely than not end up on opposite sides of the bracket. If they play and Pel wins or ties, the two could play again in the semis.
RTH down 1-0 going into the third. Juliano moves up to foward leaving the already short handed D core. Juliano socres 2 goals in 8 minutes to win 2-1
Ketchabaw stands on his head once again for RTH. Good win for the Titans.
pelham already in 3 seed and will get bonus points for Massena. They will likely stay in the 3 seed and meet Rye in semi’s, sorry FOTG
Scarsdale Rye game was a good game last night. Back and forth. Rye had some soft girls early, but did dominate the game in the first. Not sure Rye has anyone who can skate with either Nicholas or Blakely. Scarsdale will be a tough team to deal with if they get either of their first two starters back.
Scores- RTH knocking off Greeley does solidify the seedlings as long as the Pelicans take care of biz upstate. With only 1 bonus point up there, Pelham likely needs two wins to stay a 3 (unless RTH knocks off Rye tomorrow). Hopefully, that means the Rye/Pel game gets scheduled as it will just be another regular season game for bragging rights and not one that affects seeding. DII seeding looks to have Jay, Rye and Pel as the top 3, which makes sense (although not necessarily in that order).
“not sure anyone can skate”? Did Scarsdale win last night? oh Rye won? So I guess they can skate with those kids. Keep in mind Scarsdale has now lost to Pelham Jay and Rye.
Div II Section Title goes through Pelham . . ..
You gotta beat the Pelicans, may as well go buy a lottery tix
good luck
