Rye vs Pelham will be the game of the year again!
shut up and make john jay number one…this blog is an absolute joke
jwertz has been freed #weareallwitnesses
Supreme – Undefeated is an accomplishment so props to the team and staff, BUT. How can you honestly expect John Jay to be ranked #1 in Section 1 without playing (and beating) any of the stronger teams in the section and/or NYS. Let them schedule Mamaroneck, Suffern and Pelham next season and them everyone will be more willing to take them seriously.
That’s not a knock…it’s just a fact.
@Section1supreme
#1? JJ has not been tested other than greely. When they play one of the real powers and win then they can be moved up but for right now they are where they should be. Defintely would not move up to #1 though
#1 Read Old School Mountie
#2 Read Meister
#3 JJ’s success is not a huge surprise – coach & AD should have upgraded sched for this year
#4 Petition for return to power leagues to get you out of the house league at BIA +/or sched some upstate teams
#4 DO NOT play in the ridiculous BIA kickoff tourney
#5 Please tell us that you are under the age of 16
I would like to know why JJ scheduled such a weak schedule. Unlike Greeley, JJ is no surprise that they are a good team. With plenty of junior and senior leadership, some star power with Smith and Bostwick and to top it off a solid tender in Lanza. Don’t you think the coaches or AD or whoever made the schedule would put together more than 3 tests in the season (Greeley, Scarsdale and Rye) and one of the tests was a surprise not many people predicted Greeley to be a contender or top 10
The trip to Section 10 vs. Thousand Islands/Alexandria Bay and then either Ogdensburg or Norwood/Norfolk should be good tests as well. TI/AB is in 3rd behind Potsdam and Massena for Section 10 Division 1, and O & N/N are 1st & 2nd respectively as of today for Section 10 Division 2.
Tough to know how Monroe Woodbury would be this year. They were still a solid team. Fortunately JJ was missing 3 starters for that road trip, so other kids got a chance to step up and contribute. It was 5-2 John Jay going into the last part of the 3rd Period.
JJ didn’t play in the BIA kick-off tourney.
Pelham’s only out of conference Section 1 games this year were both against Suffern, so it looks like JJ scheduled other potential Section 1, D2 playoff opponents because Pelham did not have room.
JJ must play 13 games vs. Conference 1 opponents because of league rules.
Seems like they did a solid job of scheduling / creating opportunities for their team to be challenged this year.
All you JJ fans A good team, BUT they will not get any recignition until they go upstate Period. They did not do a good job of scheduling if they really want to be a STATE recignised power. Until they do that they will be a local also ran.
If they happen to win the section and do something in the State playoffs (even play a tough good game) then they can be talked about as a serious program!
Rumor mill has JJ backing out of late scrimmage against Pelham in February. . . .
talk about avoidance syndrome
As of today Rye should be ahead of J based upon strength of teams played and results.
It is common in sports for fans of a top team ( the big 4 or 5 in this case) to feel threatened by a team on a roll (JJ) . I see the explainations for them being underated as comforting to them but the reality is this team is the the deal and underestimated . I would love to see a suffern / JJ game but I don’t think JJ cares much about anything but a title. They are Going about it the right way
you cannot win without a goalie. pac has no goalie
I don’t underestimat JJ and Rye certainly doen’t or they better not! My point is that if they don’t either win the section and make a good tough statement in the States or go upstate and make some noise during the regular season they are not in the state power conversation.
If they lose in the section tournament…whether or not they went 17-0-1 will not matter in the least…..
Postman
Not sure who your referring to but as for my post, feeling “threatened” has nothing to do with my thought. I’m “pretty sure “”J is “for real” but IMO, to go from “pretty sure ” to “definitely” requires Jay winning more games against top teams—seems pretty objective to me.
Were the ad & coach forced to play Brewster, Hendrick H & Pawling TWICE each…pathetic!!!
Stop the madness…return to power leagues – at this point “League Champ” title is a joke
oops! I missed that long awaited rematch with Kennedy/ Put Valley on 2/8 – JJ eked out a 7 – 1 victory earlier in the season
Greeley 4, rye 4
JJ 7, Greeley 2
if you’ve paid attention to the scores of top teams in the section, Pelham, Suffern, Mamo, Rye and even WP, playing each other comparing scores means absolutely nothing. Example, WP and Mamo beat suffern Pelham beats WP and Mamo but loses to Suffern twice
Agree . However just an observation in response to slacrosse’s 9:24 post
Go to section1hockey.com. It’s hilarious to see the BIA team schedules. They schedule nobody but other BIA teams. 90% of their games are played at BIA. Whatta joke. At least play a rockland or southern westchester team a few times. This is why JJ won’t win squat. Lack of tough game experience.
One day a BIA team will win a section title. But it ain’t this year.
Btw. Mamk might be the only hockey team ever to have good defenseman, but an overall terrible defensive scheme. Why can’t they ever clamp down?
@JJ Sched,
Yes jay was forced to play those teams twice those are the rules in conference 1
ok so when when jj whoops your sorry asses in the sectional championship you’ll all see
To say that “One day a BIA team will win a sectional title” is a joke. Didn’t Fox Lane win a few just a few years ago? Just a 3 years ago, weren’t there 2 BIA teams in the championship game in Lakeland/Panas in D1 and Yorktown in D2? Actually, I believe L/P went into the so called Jungle in the semis, and won. Seems like, with the exception of the ‘big 4’, BIA teams have had more success than any one else in Section 1. And for the most part are the youngest teams (meaning their programs have been around far less years than most of the lower westchester and Rockland teams).
Jay used to play each of Suff, Rye, Pel and Mamo home and home in the power leagues. Bring ‘em back, please.
First off, fake Postman, please pick a new name. We already have a regular on here named postman, and you are not him.
And to “Scores” yes, FL did win a couple section titles about 10 years ago. You mentioned that the previous statement about “Someday a BIA team will win a section title” is a joke, however you go on to say that other than the big four, BIA teams have had the most success. That is just a silly statement. What you’re saying is if you take the top four teams out of a 29-team league, the field of 13 teams that play out of BIA have more success than any of the other 12 based on one season a couple of years ago when two of them made it to west point in the same season. Makes zero sense. I’m not saying they are terrible or anything, but of course when picking a field of 13 teams and eliminating the four best teams, it will look balanced 99 out of 100 times.
This ranking is stoopid up. Where’s Mt Vernon at? How they not numba one?
Oh snap, I’m on the wrong blog.
It’s okay LaQueesha.
thank you cliff!!! if you’re going to take my name at least try and write something similiar to what I would.. lol.. what a bad attempt!! LOSER!!
I seriously question myself everytime I read these comments whether any of you know a thing about hockey. You continue to say that BIA teams suck, yet Jay is 13-0-1. Yes many of the teams they played are horrible, but look at what they did to the “non BIA teams” that you all worship:
Monroe Woodbury- 5-4 (5-2 with 4 mins in 3rd)
Scarsdale- 4-1
Just so you you know, Pelham canceled the scrimmage against Jay, not Jay. And Jay does go up state this year to Thousand Islands so it’s about time you wake up and stop saying they need to go upstate. They also play Rye this weekend, who tied Greeley 4-4(Jay killed Greeley 7-2).
I love hockey.
It’s not ok LaQueesha.
Real B. go wait in the car.
For the record I was dropped on my head as an infant.
(the original postman)
OK, because JJ bloggers keep saying so… I am now convinced that JJ will win the state. They are amazing, greatest team to come out of section 1. OK? So JJ bloggers can stop trying to convince us.
thank god someone finally realizes the truth
Nice try but Jay did cancel the pElham scrimmage. probably for good reason, scrimmage would not prove anything anyway, so that has nothing to do with it. I doubt either team would “duck” each other, certainly not pelham with their schedule, its obvious they do not duck anyone
Nice to see SNS make it
JJ ducking Pelham makes sense. Why would JJ show their cards to Pelham at this point?
More importantly. After Pelham squashes them in a scrimmage it will point out what a joke it is to reward JJ with their easy schedule as the 1 seed.
Teams need to be punished more for having an easy schedule. The BIA schedule is annoying because many teams have a better record than they would if they played a good cross section of teams across section one.
In other words. Play other section one teams besides the ones who play at BIA.
Guys learn your facts it was 2-2 Rye vs Greeley not 4-4 and the score of the John Jay game did not really tell how the game went. They didn’t dominate as the score says. They were physical and scored about 3-4/7 of their goals from the point and the rest were on odd man rushes.
Rye/Greeley,
I would hope someone who actually went to the JJ/HG game would describe it real lopsided nature. Yes, I beleive the score really didn’t tell whole story. The score should have easily been 9-0, if JJ didn’t back off after getting so far ahead.
@upstater
It was a 4-2 game at one point. You can’t point a finger that someone didn’t go to the game after not going yourself. It was competitive for about a period and a half to 2 periods when John John Jay scored a couple quick ones in the third period. Part of the problem is the greeley goalie had an off night and was shaky at best
i think greeley-jay proved that greeley isn’t a top ten team or is #8-10, not that jay is #1….can earn top 4 ranking by beating rye…Jay is clearly a top 10 team, just have to prove it against a better schedule. Should have looked to schedule top tier teams if they knew they would be good and should have avoided the BIA tournament. Either way, the section should go back to power conferences while keeping an eye on travel distance-league 4 A&B use geography as one determinant.
Option 1-6 team leagues, play each 2X. play 2 lower league games
1 -Suffern, Pelham, MMK, Rye, 2/4 of Jay/White Plains/Scarsdale/New Rochelle
Rinks-Sport-O/Mall, Ebersole, BIA, Murrays, Ice Hutch-best teams, gotta travel.
2 -2/4 of Jay/White Plains/Scarsdale/New Rochelle, Clarkstown, Greeley, RT/H, S/NS
Sport-O, BIA, Ice Hutch
3 -Byram Hills, Fox Lane, ETB, L/P, Mahopac, JFK
WSA, BIA
4 A-Mt Pleasant, Ossining, Sleepy Hollow, Pearl River, Nyack/TZ, N. Rockland
WSA, Sport-O
B-Yorktown, Carmel, Brewster, Pawling, Henry Hudson
BIA
Leagues subject to change at the end of each year. Play 3 games vs teams a league down. League 1 & 2 cannot play league 4 teams except for tournaments and playoffs.
If Mahopac could have scheduled Suffwen, Mamo, Wp and Newro, why couldn’t have JJ scheduled any of these teams?
According to the logic applied on this board, RCDS is now the best D2 team in the area after today’s win over Rye.
Way to go Wildcats!!!
Thanks for messing up everything
They probably didnt want to. Just because some people think playing a tough schedule is a good idea some teams do not. Some think winning most or all of their games is more important. Others may not
D2? they`d be D1 if they were section 1. They are able to recuit so theyd be D1
@ sec1pk
Looking at JJ schedule they did not play in the BIA tournament, they have to play 13 league games.
Non League games vs Fox Lane (part of a Charity game they play every year), Scarsdale, Greeley, Rye, Monroe and 2 games upstate (thousand Island and Ogdensburg, or Norwood/NorfolK). Besides Fox looks like they tried to schedule teams that are the usually quality teams and HG who surprised last year.
It seems that the # of League games up at Brewster are not the same as other leagues, which the AD’s signed off on.
Looking at League set up why is Rye in league 2 and not in league 3, Sleepy or ETB should have had to switch places, six wasted games for Rye every year.
@scores…honestly i saw on here that they were in the tournament, not sure who said it. also, 13 league games is an awful idea. i guess they did it to save money on travel bc i can’t think of another logical reason. every teams goal (unless you know going into the season that you won’t be competitive) should be to prepare for the sectional playoffs, play games that test their metal and to improve as a team. consistently blowing teams out (unless you are incredible and blow out even the top teams) seems like a waste of talent as they could have tested themselves against better competition and played better all around games.
also, i completely agree with you about rye. theres no reason for them not to be in the other league, my guess is that the two are divided into “southern” and “central” westchester because the leagues are currently divided geographically. seems theyre grouped rye and rt/h with the northern teams. speaking strictly geographically, it should be WP in conference III and not II.
right now we have basically 3 demographics in section 1
rockland
Southern Westchester-Divided into 2 leagues
Northern Westchester-BIA league
even if they wanted to keep the geographic divisions they should be power ranked within the area
-North 1 Somers, JFK, Jay, Greeley, Mahopac and L/P (year-to-year)
-North 2 Carmel, Yorktown, Hen Hud, Fox Lane, Pawling, Brewster
-South 1 Rye, WP, MMK, Pelham, New Ro, Scarsdale
-South 2 RT/H, Ossining, ETB, Sleepy, Mt Pleasant, Byram Hills
-Rockland Suffern, North, Clarkstown, Pearl River, Nyack/Tappan Z,
Your set up makes way too much sense for the idiots at Section 1 to ever agree to…great breakdown of the 5 divisions with power & geography taken into account.
Only problem is the Rockland group…none of them want to play Suffern twice.
Your set up would make a 10 game league sched which wouls actually be something worth winning…BTW you could make small changes at the end of every season within the North & South pools.
Everybody would have 10 other, non-league games
U shud repost this on a more current thread
we are going to sneak up on everyone and win the section. you heard it here 1st.
@sec1pk
Totally agree on the leagues, this way everyone would be regulated to the same # of league games, then if they wanted to schedule “easy” non league games, people have something to complain about. Unfortunately it will not happen because the powers that be “did not think of this alignment first and get their due credit”
I said it once and I will say it again there is no way pacmeister is a Mahopac fan. It appears that he’s just trying to stir the pot. Must be a hater of MAHOPAC.
guy again? last year was 5-0 not a great game
Whoever said Pac has no goalie, your should keep your negative comments to yourself. They have a few goalies who are trying to win. These are High School kids who love the game and to say what you said is wrong.
And to be perfectly honest , go to the next game and tell pac man that, I dare you..
