I’m thinking Murray’s is the best place to be this evening, watching Scarsdale take on Monroe-Woodbury in the championship game of its own tournament. The consolation game, Harvey and Clarkstown, is a promising match-up, too. I’m staying in today, so leave us an update if you’re going.
Let’s see if Carmel is able to bring the same intensity used to knock off Mahopac the other night and take care of Nyack/Tappan Zee in an intriguing crossover. White Plains and North Rockland are entertaining upstate teams again at Sport-O-Rama.

What was score of rcds-kents hill game
Interesting game in Dwyer Arena on Niagara Univ campus tonight. Lancaster plays Nia.Wheatfield. Both are ranked in the top 3 or 4 in NYS. One of these teams is going to represent Sec VI and a possible Frozen Four opponent of Sec I champ. These are two solid teams. Also in North Country yesterday McQuaid loses in final of Ogdensburg tourney to host Ogdensburg in a shoot out 2-0.
McQuaid doesn’t appear to the juggernaut we thought after about 8 games. This is a great part of the season where some teams are fine tuning, others jockeying for seeding position, and others in a death fight for a playoff spot. Should be fun.
C- I left mid 3rd with the score 7-0.
Anyone have a score for White Plains vs. Cortland?
Ta-Da:
5-3 WP final
Thanks Cliffy
Nice win for WP
anyone know the final score of the north rockland-whitesboro game?

Whitesboro 4-1 over North Rockland.

Niagara Wheatfield 3 Lancaster 1 final
Scarsdale 5 mw 4. Nicholas with tournament MVP. Nicholas brothers combined for 7 points
N-W
Sounds like a big win.
Congrats.
Mount Pleasant. Fox Lane score?
Local top 10:
1. Suffern- hanging in there with some important kids injured. Need to find a “go to” scorer for the playoffs.
2. Jay- last undefeated team in the Section. How many undefeated teams are there in the state?
3. Rye – 3-0 with suspended players serving their sentence allows role plays to step up. Big test on Saturday.
4. Pelham- control Cullen and you control the Pelicans. Easier said than done.
5. Mamo- up and down team lost to my 3 and 4, but beat my 1.
6. RCDS- you need to see them before you question this pick.
7. Greeley- a young team that has to find a way to deal with the physical play come playoffs.
8. Scarsdale- will be even more dangerous if they get healthy.
9. CTWN- like Rye, they will get better once the suspended kids return.
10. WP- hanging in there with the super tender.
10. New Ro- like Mamo, these guys dig too many holes for themselves. Results in a lot of excitement.
Thanks Ned.

Local top ten-
1. suffern-top dog until theyre knocked off in playoffs-would be favorite against everyone
2. pelham-tough schedule, tough team, building depth, will be ready, favored against most
3. mamo-same as pelham
4. rye-up and down, can beat anyone or not show up. still a solid team who no one will want to see in playoffs
these are the top 4 teams. any coach would rather play another other team than them. Jay may be undefeated but they haven’t been tested much. beat up on good greeley team who also has a weak schedule. will not be battle tested (a la suff, mmk, pelham, rye, wp who play tough competition) come playoff time, could hurt them. of course, they could just be incredible (beat greeleys pants off), but without the tests they can’t be ranked top 4. did beat scarsdale but they were down a top 3 player on a shallow team. needs to prove it in the postseason before theyre ranked above any of the other 4. good test against rye this week and 2 potential tough games against out of section teams.
5. Jay-see above
5. WP-quality W over suffern. played everyone tough (pelham rye). not very deep but good tender. not a dominant team but tough out for anyone. MMK/WP good opp for wp this week.
5. Greeley-Beat up on weaker teams, played 2 quality opponents tough, beat up by Jay. is masuk good? good team, not top 5 yet.
8. Scarsdale-not very deep, rely on top 3, who are very good of course, could have trouble in playoffs
9. Clarkstown-top 10 team w. a few good wins but not dominant.gillespie can control game from pt.
10. New Ro-much like clarkstown not dominant but can compete with anyone.
tiers 1-suff/pelham/mmk/rye
tier 2-jay/greeley/wp
tier 3-scarsdale/clarkstown/newro
Jay/greely/wp/scarsdale
thoughts? i don’t know everything. the way i see it rankings aren’t as critical, its the tier…suff, mmk, pelham, rye are tops the jay, wp and i guess greeley, though i think c-town is good. and then scarsdale and new ro.
thats embarrassing that you put greeley in the same tier as john jay…there not even in the same league as far as that game was concernend
Scarsdale belongs sin tier II. Lost to Jay and Mamo by 1 each with many guys out.
The rankings are based on the players that can play now. Scars moves up if the kids come back 100 percent. Big test for Raiders on Friday. Will the kids be back?
Also, Jay beat Scars 4-1.
Realizing its only one mans opinion but maybe you are not following things as closely as you used to. Your remark about Pelham and controling one player is not exactly true. I looked on the section 1 site today and see they have four losses this season. 2 against Suffern and the other 2 against upstate powers from Buffalo. The player you point out is in fact their top player but they have 7 wins this year and there are other contributors. I would go as far to say that they in fact have the most depth or more contributing players. In there last 5 games a loss to Suffern, and wins over Mamaroneck White Plains Ithaca and Salmon River, in which Pelham scored 16 goals, that player has 5 points. So while he is their best, and perhaps the sections top defense man, and he is playing very well for Pelham, theres contributions being made by many others against high level competitition. Talk is Pelhams leading scorer is about ready to go, and thats perfect timing as the team appears to be rolling quite well.
undefeated? yes, but only two quality wins against Scarsdale and Greeley. We `ll see what they do with Rye before crowning them
In the two games I saw Pel play, everything revolved around him. The breakout. The pp. The pk. It’s a team game and he makes his teammates better. Of course, he can’t do it alone. My point was that if you find a way to slow him down, you slow down the whole Pelican process. I am sure there are plenty of solid contributors for Pelham.
I believe in the game vs ithaca cullen was not on the ice for either of the goals pelham got. Also pelhams #21 is very close in points to cullen. They are a really well rounded team. Its not just a one player team when it comes to pelham. They have everyone step up when they are needed to. I agree cullen is the best player but there are plenty of players who can put the puck in the net. Watch out for donovan, morgan and peters in the upcoming pelham games.
Good points. I ve seen them and they do have depth and they use more players than most teams do. #5 is a elite level player no question but they are not beating the teams they beat with only one go to guy.Impossible. If you look at their roster in comparison to others outside of #5 and the injured leading scorer #15 they do not have any high level travel or star players but they do play as a team and have many players who know how to get it done. This weekend at sportorama they had at least seven regulars out and still came away with two wins. When #15 returns that can only make them more dangerous. Shaping up to be an exciting seasons end.
Outside of #15 and #5 they have a AAA player (#24) and another Jr. player (#27). But yes I agree 5 and 15 are standout players
