A single admission could net you a lot of good hockey today.
There’s a lot going on today over at Sport-O-Rama, with North Rockland and White Plains hosting a little competition from upstate. And you’ve got the Suffern Tournament going on, too, with a new format. It’s more of a friendship tourney otherwise we’d have gotten a third showdown between the Mounties and Pelham.
I’ll be up at Brewster Ice Arena later on tonight watching John Jay and Greeley, but I’ll be sneaking across the lobby to check in on Lakeland/Panas and RyeTown/Harrison, which could be a good matchup. You can follow me @LoHudHockey for the updates.
Leave a score if you’re out there watching, please.

Who would the all time section 1 team consist of? With the season winding down and the awards around the corner I’m curious to know what people think. I have been following Santini and see he is potentially a first round pick
Over the past ten years or so…
F-Bryan gitler
F-Matt Willows
F-Joe wegwerth
D-Brett pesce
D-Steven santini
I know JJ has depth, but they only seem to play about 5 defenders max in a game, they are losing there best defender and another 1 of the 5, could help greeley get some offense going and mis-matches. Should be a great game, JJ offense will have to step up tonight in order to win.

@puck
I have also been told that Greeley is missing Henry Girardi obviously who has a reputation for being a lockdown defender and they will also be missing a top six forward although I haven’t heard witch one of the top six forwards it is and I don’t know why as it might be travel.the energy in the building for this one is going to be high and should be a great game! I will go John Jay 3 and Greeley 2
Remember the golie for JJ will have to be at the top of his game as Greeley is a high scoring team as they have 94 goals in 14 games
Yeah, should be good, but also JJ has a ton of goals and a good ratio for goals scored to goals let in, not going to make a prediction because it could really go either way.
Lets not forget the Daniels twins, Foster and Natoli from Suffern. That’s only in the last 15 years. Plenty more further back.

Am I losing it or is this screwed up
L/P VS SNS is monday1/21
New ro beats fordham on monday
I think Pelham Wins 3-2 over Salmon river and I’m going with Ithaca 3-2 over Suffern only becuase Suffern is missing players One of There top Forwards and there 2 top d-men
Shorthanded Suff beats Ithaca 3-1. Pel gives Salmon their 10th loss by a 2-0 score. Jay handles Greeley 4-2.
I bet the JJ and Greeley game will be very VERY close. Probably going to be a goalies game cause both teams are used to scoring a lot. Looking at Sectiononehockey.com, the score last year was 4-2 Jay and JJ had over 40 shots. I think it will be pretty even (20 shots a piece). 3-2 game, can go either way…
Both teams are without players so there are no excuses, it’s going to come down to who wants it more in Greeley vs. John Jay. An underrated game today is scarsdale clarkstown, i expect a decent amount of scoring but an overall good game, 5-4 final Scarsdale
Gillespie still out for CTWN. Will be interesting to see if they can still score with the Raiders today.
Foster would have to be on that list. There have been some great players that came through Section 1 throughout the years. Unfortunately most people here did not get to see him play. The goalie McQuaid from C Town could be on that list along with the D’Agostino brothers from Pelham.
Scarsdale vs C-Town could be dull one with Gillespie out for Rams and Schell/Burns both out for Raiders. Game will be tight, 5-3 Scarsdale.
JJ 6 Greeley 2
Thanks for the feedback. How many players have been drafted that played in section 1?
I think Pelham will handle Salmon River easily. I say 5-0. Salmon Rivers goalie played a great game last night. Suffern with a 3-1 win.
Pelham in a close one, 2-1 over Rox. Ithaca-Suffern is a toss up. Little red are much improved from previous years. Their last three trips into sport-o they have been out scored 20-0. Ouch!! They may be due. I’ll go with mounties 3-2.
Sleeper pick Kevin Norwin Suffern Defenseman who graduated in 2010. Defensively a complete standout and in his senior year became an offensive threat as well carrying a young Mountie team to the final four. His o.t. goal against Willy North in State Regional game was one of the most exciting high school games ever played down here. Captain of the Maryland D1 Club Team. Maybe not the raw talent as some guys listed above but he and the other 2010 seniors paved the way for the next two trips to the final 4 and a state championship.
@Sweet n’ Low
You’re not wrong.
John Jay is missing 3 of their key players tonight, 2 defenseman and 1 forward. Wertz is out due to suspension and their best defenseman Lepime will be at a junior game. Lucas Prestamo will also be out. Jay still has a lot of depth and i’m expecting a win.
Stopped by RCDS rink to check out Rye’s next opponent who was playing a Maine boarding school Kent Hill. RCDS overmatched against a team that had a bunch of Swedes and Canadians on the roster and knocked off Brunswick last nite. Thought the Wildcats had some solid skating depth. A lot like a Rye, Pel, Jay, Greeley or Mamo. A good test for Rye this week.
spectator, make it more obvious you’re on john jay lol
Scarsdale over ctown 5-2
I like Rye getting in a game with a solid RCDS team before its big game with Jay on Saturday. Rye’s top scorer, Bennicassa will be back for the Jay game.
Pelham score?
Michael Holmes, Tommy Holmes, The Zegras that played at VT, Steve Kanopka, Sean Curtin, Sean Haggerty, Ryan Haggerty. Michael Holmes was the best raw talent to ever play in section one
MW 7
harvey 5
Just heard its 4-2 Pelham in the third period
5-2 Pelham
Go rebels wish I was tbere
Game over
Must of been a hell of a game…White Plains down 3-0 to Whitesboro comes back to win 6-5
North Rockland falls to Cortland-Homer 2-1
Scarsdale with a nice win today over Clarkstown who was shorthanded. Raiders will figure out some new lines and combos and be a threat again. Then when Schell comes back they will be a very tough out in the playoffs.
Amazing that their teammate from last year, Jurmain, won’t play for the Raiders. He has travel commitments and doesn’t want to miss, but it is only for a few weeks. You would think he would want to get out their with his buddies. If he did come, the raiders get back tot he finals, and with Schell and Burns back, they are a threat to win it all.
Would love to see a line of Nicholas, Jurmain, Blakely or Schell, with the other player playing center for a second line of Schell, they younger Nicholas and hindmarch. They could go somewhere.
What is the score of JJ/Greeley.
Greeley gets to play with the big boys. Can they handle it?
And JJ is short handed….Greeley’s schedule is the reason they are undefeated.
JJ score?
Stang away at travel tourney…backup played his heart out for WP
Tigers scored 3 in last 6 minutes in furious comeback (McGee, Conroy & Carrier)
Variano played a great all-around game!
Pelham down 2-0 then score the next 5 unanswered goals and win 5-2
John Jay is the real deal.
JJ – HG tweets on right.
JJ 6
HG 2
end of 2nd period
Fordham also plays scarsdale in feb
Suffern up 4-0 after two per.
courtland vs north rockland score?
NRock led 1-0 late in 2nd – tied end of 2
Cortlandt got winner in 3rd – Final 2-1
Glas to see WP’s with the big comeback and the Carrier kid with a nice goal.
Glad to see——
Lp update
thanks
Bia you out there
LP Update?
This really bites cove the blowout game 2 2 game in 3rd
Nothing
Suffern 5-0 win
looks like John Jay played SMARTHOCKEY tonight. Really cleaned it up
Not at rink, but JJ really send a strong message to the rest of the league with a powerful 7-2 win over Greeley.
Wait wait wait Carmel beat Mahopac? I though Mahopac was ranked one the highest teams in the section?
Jay was too fast and physical for Greeley and their snipers were too skilled for greelys defense
This is a crazy year for all team, with the exception of John Jay everyone has a weird game or two, anything can happen in the playoffs, anyone can pull off an upset an move on. This year of all years there is no telling who is moving to BIA (not West Point) for the Championships. Could be fun at BIA come playoff time!
Greeley is good, but not top level. They lose to Pelham, JJ, Scarsdale, Mamk , WP and a few others if they play them.
Mount Pleasant. Ossining score?
Carmel beat Mahopac? Most embarrassing loss ever for Pac. Coach should be fired. Oh, wait, we did that once already. STUPID!!!!
mt pleasant 13 penalties
Ossining 15 penalities
oh the score? can not remember but Mount won
Greeley goalie was not on his game in the first period last night the same way he was against Rye. That being said, John Jay definitely outmatched Greeley physically and Greeley will need to adjust accordingly come playoff time. Lanza showed he is in the ranks among goalies to not take lightly. Very interested to see John Jay in sectionals, they will be in the D2 championship game, no doubt about it.
ahhh, the old it’s the goalie excuse. Always a great standby excuse. Immature excuse… but yes a great standby. Don’t blame the Greeley offense who could only score twice…. last time I checked, it’s pretty hard to win games when you only score 2 goals unless you are suffern or pelham.
@sayitain’tso – a team loses a game in high school sports and you say the coach should be fired, now that is silly. Is this professional hockey or high school hockey, you must be a parent on the team who is not happy with the coach so you hide behind a blog and take shots at your coach. Easy Cowboy, it is only high school hockey, don’t be so silly.
