It’s the calm before the storm.
We’ve got a bunch of big games coming up this weekend, so I’m home resting up. Actually, I’m home being lazy. Rye Country Day is back on the ice after its prolonged holiday break. And Nyack/Tappan Zee is playing host to a team from across the boarder. That’s cool. It’s always good to see how teams from the section compare to New Jersey and Connecticut.
Share a score if you’re out watching.

Mahopack and Greeley have a scrimmage tonight at 7 BIA. Depending on how Pack’s goalie plays, it might be close.

Hopefully one day some sort of regional or nationwide event will take place beyond states to sort this all out.
Where did this poll come from? Looks like someone threw darts at a board, and hit Lancaster twice. St. Joe’s in buffalo is not on the list at all. Can’t speak for the ct and nj schools, but the upstate schools are out of whack. No Bishop Timon either.
Few teams should be added..a few deleted…but this would be the sickest tournament ever..just make it 64 for the hell of it lol
Would be insane
Greeley lost to Mahopac 7-3 in scrimmage.
That poll is ridiculous. Fairport is about the third best team in NY Section V? Malone, really? They are a .500 team from a weak div II in Sec X. Ramsey at # 14? They have a nice team. I agree with NW. It looks like these were randomly picked. I mean if you’re going to go through this exercise try and make it reasonably accurate.
Greeley did not lose to Mahopac, the game was a scrimmage and both teams were working on things to improve their team for upcoming games. This was not a real game, this was a glorified practice and I hope both teams got something out of it.

Also why would hamden be above RCDS, RCDS beat them 6-2 and is undefeated in the FAA?
oh, he means hamden hs, not hamden hall (bottom feeder in low prep league)
list would need alot of work
as mentioned, st.joe’s of buffalo isnt there (consistently one of the ny’s best)...st.anthony in LI…chaminade (this year they are the favorite to win chshl)
hoosac should be there – they were undefeated going into yesterday’s game against rcds (anyone know what happened?)
where’s paramus catholic? theyre undefeated and have been blowing teams out…so is notre dame (of nj)
a list of 64 would be a ton of fun to put together for nj, ct, ny
brunswick is easy top 5…and connetquot/sayville in LI is easy top 25…a ton more in LI should be in the mix (east williston/jericho, smithtown/hauppauge, etc.)
new canaan, amity and the fairfield publics (fairfield high, notre dame of fairfield) should also probably be up there..
@ list
hasn’t st anthony’s lost to IONA twice this year?
mr howell,
yes, true…but that may be the popular long island effect (junior/travel players only show up on non-coinciding games)...which is why iona has beaten st anthony’s in at least 1 game every year…and why chaminade typically performs at a 500 level, except this year (heard the coach has implemented what the jv coach does…the ct rule…pick a team, all or nothing)
this game was on nbc sports last night
what a game…

harvard down 3 going into 3rd, wins it in OT
beanpot going to be good this year..
Mahopac bloggers are out of control. Mid season scrimmage score? Are you serious? Next you’ll be posting intra-squad scrimmage scores.
RCDS beat Hamden Hall, not Hamden HS. Very different schools. Hamden HS perennial CT St power. But I agree the list is a joke.
@Ice man – come on be fair here, one person placed a comment which in my opinion they should not have, but to say Mahopac bloggers are out of control is unfair. The game filled a practice slot and both teams had fun and worked on a few things. Greeley is a strong team and I hope they do well this year.
RCDS tied Hoosac 2-2
