All of the action is at Brewster Ice Arena, like most Sundays, and the highlight is John Jay vs. Fox Lane. The longtime rivals are playing for the McLaughlin Cup. It’s easily the biggest game of the year for the Foxes.
To clear up some of the blog discussion, Lakeland/Panas coach Bart Mucci will not be on the bench tonight after getting flagged by the officials after the Mahopac game. I was across the ice when he began questioning the refs so I don’t know the fervor of the conversation, but he wasn’t going crazy on anyone.
Sometimes this happens when a coach requests a certain official not do any more of his games and the section continually ignores that plea. That’s all I’m saying.

KPV vs. LP should be a very interesesting game. KPV has some kids that like to bang and will not take to kindly to some of the bantor that comes from the chirping between players on the ice. This game has the chance of having more penaties called than the LP/ PAC game. The goalies on both teams are having very good years but can not do it on their own, they both need their teamates to stay out of the box.
New Ro defeats CBA 4-2. New ro was down 2-0 after 1 and then lit it up with 3 in a few minutes in the second amd added one in the third.
Also tonight if anyones local…fordham vs st anthony 9pm murrays
9 pm game outside at Murrays in Yonkers? Oh wait, I can’t go, I gotta give myself a root canal tonight.
Nice win for New Rochelle btw.
haha!
Murray’s will be brutal tonight.
Lp jfk game posponed lp did not have enogh players – they are falling like flys.
lp postponed or forfiet
Pretty sure that has to be a forfeit. How did LP not know ahead of time that either they did not have enough players or the coaches had no idea you need 9 skaters and a goalie to play a high school game.
Are you telling me kennedy showed up and wound up not playing? Ridiculous. Makes the league look crummy.
At the rink now, I was just informed by a good source that LP has to forfeit the game to JFK because they showed up to play with only 8 skaters and the rules state that you need 9 skaters to cpmpete. Those penalities and game suspensions against Pac cost them – oh well.
@5hole – sent me your number at csoa@aol.com need to chat with you.
just sent it-
Can’t coach, can’t count .. . .
Pacfan=Bob Buckley everyone. Biggest clown parent.
Hey Mike, didn’t puckington just earn a lifetime suspensation for that last post?
when a coach requests a certain official not do any more of his games and the section continually ignores that plea.
Mike,
If Boces honors coaches request about officials there would be no officials left to do the game.
Sounds like Puckington needs to grow up , This is a blog about hockey , opinions of other persons dont belong here . I hope he finds out who you are .
Clowns play a wonderful role in life, they keep children happy, they put smiles on the faces of the sick and they live a care free life. Smile, it is all good!
The funny thing is many of the bloggers pretty much know each other and have fun with each other, the onyl people who don’t know the names behind bloggers screen names are those who only frequent the blog every now and then. Most bloggers who post here are responsible and have fun with each other, keep the blog and conversation going, it is entertaining, informative and fun for all. Anyone who places their e-mail on a blog is obviously not hiding from anyone, it does not take a genious to google an e-mail address and find a name attached to it and I am sure if a person places their e-mail address on a blog that would indicate that they do not care who knows who they are and they do not need to hide behind a screen name, credit to them for speaking freely and openly.
St anthony 4 fordham 3
Good game
any finals from BIA
i know SNS over Hen Hud 5-3.. looks like they are first in 1A
Pac still in 1st in 1a sns over hen hud does not matter for 1a standings, hh is not in the same league. The games in 1a that count for the league are tha games against teams in you league.
That is incorrect. Yes, Pac is still in 1st over SNS, but that is because at 5-1, they have a better win% than SNS at 6-1-1. In conference 1, you play everyone in your league twice and everyone in the other league once with all 13 games counting towards the league standings and title. So SNS vs. HenHud does count towards the league title.
Cliff, thanks for the clarification, I learn something new everyday.
Finals From BIA last Night
Not sure if that was a question without a question mark or a statement that you accidentally hit “publish” too soon on. If the former, all the final scores are up-to-date on http://www.section1hockey.com in the “recent scores” section. if the latter, I’m not sure how to respond.
Mike
Lohud and CliffSection 1 Hockey, just wanted to say; “Happy New Year” and thanks for providing the information that you both do for local high school hockey fans on your websites. We are lucky in Section 1 to have a place to blog, gather information and review statsMy 2 cents is this. Referees should not throw coaches out of games willy nilly. However, I wasn’t there, so maybe he used some magic words that got him the hook.
Is it me or are there alot less interesting stories ever since the abolishing of the power leagues, and the reduction of games allowed from 24 to 20? I think it really hurt the league.
Pacfan
And thank you for playing along. Happy New Year.
to Santana why is hockey the only sport where coaches and players can mouth off willy nilly?
Just a couple upstate scores for those who are interested; Orchard Park 4 Ithaca 1, Shen 9 Williamsville (I refuse to call them Willy) North 3, Saratoga 5 Williamsville North 3.
Happy New Year to all.
If the Williamsville North coach was giving the refs a hard time…that would truly be Willy Nilly.
@old school Mountie. That was very funny.
I want to apologize for using such salty language. Willy nilly should never be read with our children’s virgin eyes. Please don’t ban me from the blog.
great to be silly but no real answer to why coaches and players can yell at refs.
come on
There is back-and-forth between refs and coaches and refs and players in every sport, not just hockey. And not all of the discussion is disrespectful. Adrenaline often inspires emotional responses. You can’t have a rule that bans all interaction with game officials. I believe the guys in stripes are getting $105 for a varsity game and should be able to absorb just a little noise as long as it’s not personal or unsportsmanlike.
well by telling a ref his calls and his judgement is off sounds personal
Thanks for letting us know what refs make. Bit what does that have to do with them being tolerant of verbal jabs? If they were making 60 dollars per game, would they be more inclined to take less abuse?
Santana
I’m just saying they are getting paid to do a job, which includes being subjected to emotion from coaches and players. And don’t make it sound like I believe it’s OK for anyone to direct verbal jabs at the officials. That’s not sportsmanlike. The best referees I’ve seen ignore the nonsense and follow up with a thoughtful word or gesture that calms the situation. I’ve spent countless hours in Marriott concierge lounges and gyms eating breakfast and working out with NBA officials – and the code most of them follow is spot on. You lose credibility when you engage with coaches. Make the call. Don’t sell the call. You gain credibility when you engage players with a quick directive or explanation. The whistle is a last resort.
