There is finally a marquee game on the schedule.
I’m going to be covering Mamaroneck and Mahopac at BIA, which has become a fun rivalry in the last year or so. You get this when a team that begins to fulfill its potential wants to be ranked among the powers that be. There was plenty of chatter last season from the Indians, but Mike Chiapparelli and his Tigers won both meetings, 5-1 in the regular season finale, and 8-4 in a Section 1 quarterfinal.
If you haven’t made a prediction yet, leave one here. And leave an update, please, if you’re out watching a game this evening. And follow me @LoHudHockey to get all the Twitter updates.
And for anybody making the drive, stay and watch Sean Henderson and Sean Hamilton when Brewster takes on Lakeland/Panas, which promises to be a close game. You’re not going to see too many combinations in Section 1 that score like they do.
Suffern is making its first trip upstate for the West Genesee Wildcat Classic, and we’re going to learn more about a group that is getting used to playing new roles. Very few of these players have been asked to make a big contribution in a big game.
I’ll be keeping an eye out for score updates from Sport-O-Rama where New Rochelle is opening the season against North Rockland. And we get a first look at Scarsdale, which is hosting RTH down at Murray’s. Share a thought or two if you’re watching either of those games. You can also tweet updates to me and I’ll pass them along.
Enjoy the games.
