The golf clubs have not been put away for the season, but I’m getting a head start on hockey so I’ll post a few of the items that I come across in the weeks leading up to the first day of practice. Mark it on your calendar, they hit the ice on Nov. 5. I’m working on a story about New York Apple Core moving to Brewster that is slated to run on Sunday. We’re not expanding into the murky waters of travel hockey, but since they are the only team in the coverage area playing high-level junior hockey, it’s a story worth a little time and ink. More on them later.
Stay tuned.
Don’t forget to follow me on Twitter @LoHudHockey and @hoopsmbd. I know most of the older folks grumble at the mention of Twitter, but all of the news shows up there first. Learn how to use it and you’ll be in the loop.

As the coaches send them in, they go up on the site within a day of receipt. If your team’s is not up there, check with your coach and tell him to send it in.
Are this year’s state brackets out yet?
If local players or fans want to see some hardcore hockey played at the highest level in the region with excellent skill and toughness go watch the Applecore Junior team at Brewster Ice Arena.
Or go to Playland to see Mville.
Or go to the Ice Hutch and watch Stepinac JV.
