The first couple of weeks of the season are slow, but we’ve got a couple of promising teams on the ice today. Rye Country Day is a fun team, go check them out before we’re done. Harvey also has some talent and might be among the 10 best in the power rankings once they prove they have chemistry, as well.

LoHud Hockey Soundtrack11.30.11

We’ve had some interesting back and forth in the past over some of the worst songs to ever hit the airwaves, so with that in mind, I’m going to post a weekly music video. And the selections will come from the ‘80s. I know, it was a bad hair decade. These are the songs I listened to in high school and college. These are the songs I now play to get back at my kids for subjecting me to LMFAO.

First up is Declan Patrick MacManus, better known as Elvis Costello, a modern-day Buddy Holly. I like this song for obvious reasons …

Scoreboard – Nov. 2911.29.11

We’ve actually got a pretty good matchup with RTH and it’s senior-dominated lineup going against New Rochelle, which is young but very experienced. And finally … Eastchester/Tuckahoe/Bronxville hits the ice. The question is, who’s going to be in uniform? Sorry, I couldn’t resist.

A word about blog comments11.29.11

A new policy goes into effect on Thursday requiring folks who post comments on LoHud.com to do so via Facebook, which essentially means the veil has been lifted. Names will be named. That policy will not apply to blog comments … at least for now.

Believe it or not, even the craziest hockey fanatics are far more civil than some of the knuckleheads who push very personal agendas by attaching comments to online stories.

For the record, I like the setup we have here now. The blog is mostly fun. I’d like to keep it that way. That being said, please stick with a username. And don’t steal one that’s already in play. Yesterday, we had one individual comment under chshl, iona, dump and chase and foxes. That kind of behavior could potentially force a change somewhere down the road.
