There wasn’t a lot of activity over the last week, so there’s not a lot of movement. I did move Iona Prep back into the Division I rankings, because the Gaels are better than Clarkstown right now regardless of the record. I would like to know more about Harvey, but they deserve to be included. An upcoming showdown with RCDS will be a good barometer.

Pearl river won 2-1 in OT.
Lp is 4-1-1
How does Clarkstown get dropped from the top 10? They are 3 and 3 with Losses to Monroe, Suffern and WP.
Carmel….The only decent teams they played were PAC and LP. Which they lost and tied.
New Ro…Has only played Pelham and lost.
I feel LP is good….but they too have not played nearly the schedule Clarkstown has.
I think Clarkstown needs a signature win.
Carmel won against Pac and tied L/P. Those are a good win and tie.
Carmel is 5-1-1, they tied LP and beat Pac 2-1. the one loss was to Brewster early in the season
Carmel is 5-1-1
they tied LP (5-5) and beat Pac 2-1. their one loss was to Brewster early in the season
How do they decide what division teams are in? Can’t be size as Fox Lane and Scarsdale are A division in Football and Baseball.
Billy Barnes-
It is based on school size with an enrollment of 1100 being the cutoff line between D1 & D2. In Football, where there are 5 classes, the cutoff between A and AA is 1000, but in hockey, with only two classes, the cutoff had to be somewhere, so they did it down the middle (sort of) of all of the hockey-playing schools in the state. I do agree with you, though, that it is a little odd that there are “AA Football Schools” who qualify as “D2 Hockey Schools” although it is only those with enrollments between 1000-1099. Before I would move the hockey line down to 1000, I would move the A/AA line up to 1100, though.
Lohud Hockey – thanks for the info. I guess a decision had to be made somewhere.
It’s too bad that other sports don’t have the latitude to craft their own schedules as seems apparent in hockey. The better teams can schedule all sorts of good out of region opponents (or even Pelham playing “up” for a bunch of games, and in the process find the right level of competition. Why is hockey able to do that?
Too many games in baseball, football and hoops are mandated against nearby schools that are complete blowouts, and the outcomes not in doubt before the season even starts. Does not help the team on either side of that contest.
